Yamunanagar. Gurmeet Singh Chawla, popularly known as Junior Jaspal Bhatti, who made his acting debut in Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s film from a simple shop, needs no introduction. In fact, one day while talking in a shop his friends called him by the name of comedian Jaspal Bhatti. After that his friends started calling him by this name forever. He already had a passion for acting in his heart, so the name given by his friends changed the meaning of Gurmeet’s life.
After this, one day in Chandigarh, Jaspal Bhatti met the real comedian Jaspal Bhatti. During this time he guided and encouraged Gurmeet. After this meeting, Gurmeet worked hard and this hard work paid off when junior Jaspal Bhatti started getting work in films and advertisements.
From Punjabi to Bollywood, there was iron proof
Junior Jaspal Bhatti made his way into obscurity anchoring small stage shows and doing standup comedy for many years. Finally one day Gurmeet Chawla started getting work in films and advertisements. He cleared the audition criteria and proved his acting prowess in several Punjabi films and on the Bollywood big screen. Junior Jaspal Bhatti has also worked with century veterans like megastar Amitabh Bachchan in the recently released Bollywood film Good Bye. Currently, he is playing an important role in Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming film. Apart from this, he has also won the hearts of the audience in many famous films like The Accidental Prime Minister and Total Dhamaal. Gurmeet Chawla also played a lead role in the advertisement of the recently released online food delivery app Swiggy. Along with this, Gurmeet has also worked in many web series.
Came out of a small town and made an identity
Gurmeet Singh Chawla is a resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana. He told News18 that if anyone supported him during this struggle, it was only God and his mother. He used to anchor small events in the city during the gift shop and was often disappointed. He got his first job in a show where he got Rs 250, but he never lost heart. When his hobby became a passion, Gurmeet Singh closed his gift shop in 2015 and moved to Mumbai with his mother. After 2015, Gurmeet Chawla focused solely on acting, after which he got to work in his debut film Happy Bhaag Jayegi opposite Jimmy Shergill, in which he played only an anchoring role. He has also acted in national TV serials Jiji Maa, Ishq Mein Marjawan, Crime Patrol etc.
Working with Amitabh Bachchan was a joke
According to Gurmeet, when he was told that he has been selected for a film with Amitabh Bachchan, he first thought it was a joke. But when he was actually up against the megastar of the century, his joy knew no bounds. She got a chance to do a scene with Amitabh Bachchan in the Bollywood film Good Bye, which also featured actor Ashish Vidyarthi. He also had a personal discussion with Amitabh Bachchan on the sets. According to Gurmeet, Bachchan Sahib told him that his mother was also from a Sikh family. Also, Gurmeet’s dream is to shine the name of Yamunanagar and Haryana in the film industry.
